VOLUMES
Stainless steel - 12' X 22' X 10' - 2001

    It  is fitting that Chattanooga's latest piece of public art will grace the Bicentennial Library, a place where all can see and enjoy it.  There is little doubt that generations to come will marvel at the huge structure and the fountains that will surround it.

    "Volumes" a splendid name for a work that celebrates not only the books depicted in the sculpture and the water that will play around them, but the mass of material inside the library as well.  All in all, the work is a perfect marriage of words and art on permanent display in a highly visible public space.  The sculpture was made possible by the generosity of Ruth S. and A. William Holmberg.
